If the point you are making is specific to a case study, then you should add it to our multiple examples or case studies. A principle should allow us to generalize across cases, and ideally across both humans and non-humans. It would also be helpful to avoid romantic organicism (a principle like "always prefer native species" would not have helped Jews in WWII Germany), as well as the opposite extreme, technocratic rationalism (a principle like "give technology what it wants" would not help opposition to coal-fired power plants).
